Ninetoes has been a key part of the Moon Harbour family for many years. To celebrate that, the label has put together Hot Picks, a mini-collection of his most summer-ready house jams. From superb solo EPs to tracks on Moon Harbour compilations and Ibiza-defining anthems like ‘Finder,’ this German producer knows how to mix underground grooves with infectious hooks.
First up is the title cut from his Bonita EP from 2017, a sunny house cut with finger clicks, organic percussion and sunny melodies that bring plenty of Latin heat and a carnival-ready energy. Next is ‘Clove’, a collaboration with Mat.Joe that lit up summer 2022 and will do the same again this year with its deep-rooted groove and steamy tribal drums. Sun-baked melodies float up top and bring excitable vibes with a lightness that counters the weighty low end perfectly.
‘Polanco Hills’ from 2021 also landed on the 20 Years of Moon Harbour compilation and sums up the label’s sound: the drums are rubbery, rich and driving, with sensual vocal whispers and raw textures combining into a late-night groove with real soul. Last of all is 2020’s colourful ‘Parole’, which transports you to a tropical party in South America. A wonky accordion takes the lead and stumbles through the mix next to bristling drums and cut-up vocal samples that always light up the floor.
This Hot Picks EP proves no one does fiery house and tech better than Ninetoes.
