Luna City Express
Venus Remixes

Almost 25 years after the formation of Luna City Express, German duo Marco Resmann and Norman Weber revisit their most classic track, ‘Venus’, and rework it for 2026. As well as one solo remix each, long-time Moon Harbour disciple Thomas Stieler also delivers a delicate remix of the track that has not left his bag since he picked it up on the Five Years Moon Harbour Compilation back in 2005.

Luna City Express have long, deep ties to this label, having formed in the same year back in 2000. They have been key tech house architects ever since, with many a landmark album and 12″, but ‘Venus’ is an evergreen club favourite that continues to resonate with each new generation. It is a mid-tempo groove embellished with a mix of organic percussion and analogue drum hits, warm pads and a sprinkling of soft focus synth sequences that bubble around the drums.

First to remix is Thomas Stieler, whose first-ever vinyl purchase was that Five Years compilation, and he has been playing it ever since. Stieler is resident at the legendary Leipzig club Distillery and has built up a fine catalogue on the likes of Melchior Productions Ltd and SATYA. His ‘Path of Light’ version preserves the essence of the original whilst adding new sonic accents. The rhythm is dubby and bubbly with fresh drum breaks and pads that add raw warmth.

Resmann and Weber also interpret the track in their own way: Resmann offers a Venus Dub that floats on suspended drums with wavy bass and whispered vocals that mean you hover above the floor in the intimate late-night hours, while Weber plays on the wavy grooves with extra percussive bite and soulful chords that heat things up with a timeless touch.

Together, these reworks reaffirm the enduring power of Venus and show how a truly timeless track can evolve through the generations and remain as relevant as ever.
