Rony Seikaly is back on Moon Harbour six months after this last outing, this time in collaboration with Venezuelan star Luis Manrique aka LUMC (VE).
Seikaly is now as much a part of the global house conversation as he was during his NBA days. He has honed in on his own chunky, melodic house sound and lit up respected clubs like DC10 Ibiza, Stereo Montreal, and Space Miami. His STRIDE label continues to lead from the front, and Rony is committed to championing up-and-coming artists with their own sound. Earlier in the year, he dropped a heartfelt house single with British powerhouse VITO (UK) on Moon Harbour, and this time links with house and tech favourite LUMC (VE), who brings Latin flair to his tunes and has had several Beatport Number 1s.
‘Don’t Numb The Pain’ is a superb six-minute bubbler, built around steamy, whispered vocals that give the track a seriously sultry edge. Bells, percussion, soft hits and warm pads gradually layer up around the organic groove and add heat without crowding the mix, but help to lock you in from start to finish. ‘My Vibe’ features Angie A, whose stylised r&b delivery brings plenty of attitude to a chunky tech-house groove. The track keeps subtly shifting with gentle rises and falls, crisp percussion and a rolling bassline providing constant momentum. Both cuts feel warm, tactile and made for late-night action.
With their blend of seductive vocals and effervescent grooves, Seikaly and LUMC hit a perfect sweet spot between melodic house and tougher tech-house on this essential EP.
