German new school house star Dompe brings his irresistible grooves to Moon Harbour with a new three-track EP, Retroflex.
Dompe has been making moves for more than 15 years in the European underground and heads up Jack Fruit Recordings. He has held key residences and thrown his own parties at home in Cologne before relocating to Berlin. His music comes on the likes of Get Physical, Kittball, Lapsus and many others, and he has played all across the world with a varied house sound that ranges from deep to tech to vocal, always with a fresh perspective.
The perfectly party-staring ‘Retroflex ‘gets underway with a low-slung and rubbery house groove that’s got weighty bass and a jumble of toms, drum fills and congas up top. A spoken word amps up the energy with driving subs and steamy synths, all driving things onwards. ‘Grey Session’ is another supple groove, but this time infused with texture synth rushes and bigger percussive energy that comes on in warming waves that will get the floor rocking. Last but not least, ‘Cloud Memory’ straddles dub and house with humid chords rolling under an aloof vocal that locks you in and takes you ever higher.
These are three high-grade house weapons from the ever-fresh mind of Dompe.
