Moon Harbour’s main man, Matthias Tanzmann, is back in remix mode with a fresh new take on music producer legend Giorgio Moroder’s ‘Chase.’
Long-time underground tastemaker Matthias is in the midst of another busy summer, taking his trademark grooves all around the world’s best clubs and festivals. Now, following a series of standout collaborations in recent times, the agenda-setting house and tech favourite slips into remix mode. He has long been a go-to for a wide range of artists from Jamie Jones and Booka Shade to Moby and Josh Wink, and put out a whole collection of them with his Remixes 2002-2012 compilation.
‘Chase’ came on Italian electronic pioneer producer Giorgio Moroder’s Academy Award-winning soundtrack album Midnight Express in 1978 and is an instrumental tune that hit both the UK and US charts. Matthias draws on his considerable remix skills to flip it into a contemporary and club-ready groove with signature drums and stripped-back percussion. The original synths remain and bring cosmic rays to the breakdown next to wispy sci-fi motifs. The pixelated chord sequences rise and fall, echo and decay with a retro-future flair that will light up any dance floor as the fat groove rides on.
