<![CDATA[Goodfellas EP]]>

beatport | juno.co.uk | decks.de | moon harbour shop

Last year, with their first Moon Harbour release, the “Strange Neighbors EP”, Arado and Marco Faraone proved that they know how to produce club hits. The title track represents a milestone in the careers of both deejays; and their calendars have become significantly fuller.

For their new “Goodfellas EP” – which is the first release of a new digital-only series on Moon Harbour – each artist contributed two solo tracks. “Anything” and “New Life” are Arado’s very first solo productions. This time, after several collaborations, he decided to record on his own in the studio. The result: two irresistible groove tools that roll over the dance floor with unstoppable energy.

Marco Faraone has already produced several solo recordings. His two tracks on the EP are also clearly committed to the groove. “It’s Not The Time” was one of the highlights in Matthias Tanzmann’s sets last summer – similar to “Strange Neighbors” the year before last. Like in many other tracks by these two artists, the focus is on the beats. The suspense develops through the arrangements. The last track, “Orange Again”, therefore seems slightly restrained but grabs the listener with a nonchalantly knocked off groove.

<![CDATA[Noodle Stories EP]]>

beatport | juno.co.uk | decks.de | moon harbour shop

Since “Slice Of Life”, his last EP release on Moon Harbour, Dan Drastic has been anything but idle. He’s released on Luna Records and Rrygular and contributed several tracks to the Moon Harbour compilations “Ten Years of Moon Harbour” and “Moon Harbour Joints Vol. 2”. Since October 2011 he has been taking turns with Luna City Express at hosting the Moon Harbour Radio Show and is still an essential part of the Moon Harbour Labelflights at the Leipzig Distillery.

He is ringing in 2012 with an eclectic EP. The title track, “Noodle Stories“, as well as the track “Los Pollos Hermanos”, are perfect for the time between warm-up and peak in the club: they are deep but have more than enough energy to get the dance floor moving. Martin Buttrich takes a more minimal approach in his remix of “Noodle Stories”, transforming the track into a subtle tech-house stomper. With “Fish Fingers And Custard”, Dan Drastic shows his rave side. The groove of the track is dense and driving and reaches its climax through an utterly effective chord sequence.

Nice selection of tracks.

Vienna has a longstanding reputation for producing one extraordinary artist after the other. But the city on the Danube has never been able to make a name for itself as a top-class clubbing metropolis. However, recently Vienna seems to have been roused from its slumber. More and more new clubs are opening their doors. And, of course, with these new clubs come new deejays.

Andy Catana and Christopher Groove met at the Vienna Camera Club in 2007 during their weekly residency gigs at the MNML clubbing series. In 2008 Andy Catana founded the Do Easy Records label. Christopher Groove has become one of its figureheads. For several years he’s been very active as producer. Offstage he has already done the mixing for a number of established young artists. In 2009 Andy Catana and Christopher Groove met the young, aspiring producer Daniel Kovac, who has since joined Catana as co-owner of the Do Easy label.

The “Vienna EP” focuses on the essentials: good grooves and breaks which are suitable for both peak-time and deep sets. The artists use various sounds from house-music history for the grooves, without merely copying them. On this EP only the original mix of Christopher Groove’s “Animales de la Manana”, which will be available as an exclusive digital track, stands out in terms of style: it’s an elegantly relaxed after-hours track.

Marco Donato and Federico Marton, better known as Italoboyz, moved to music metropolis London at the beginning of the 21st century. From there they started their career as producers, releasing their first records on labels such as Einmaleins, Treibstoff and Safari Electronique. They had their first big success with “Viktor Casanova“ on Claude VonStroke’s label Mothership and their subsequent records have continued to cause stirs on the dancefloor.

Giorgio Cadamuro, aka Blind Minded, has been a friend of the Italoboyz for many years. Having finished his apprenticeship as an audio engineer in Australia, he also moved to London and because he had his roots as a drum & bass producer, „il martelletto“ – “the small hammer”, as the three call the 4/4 beat – was not initially his cup of tea. Over the years, however, he grew fond of this kind of music and eventually he also added his polish to several Italoboyz tracks.

The title track “Bekeke“ was originally chosen by Davide Squillace and Matthias Tanzmann for the mix-CD “Circoloco @ DC10 - The Next Level”, which came out in spring this year. Now the track is being released on Moon Harbour, with “Spooky Bird“ und “Mamacita“ on the B-side. All three tracks are characterized by a straight, uncomplicated groove. “Bekeke“ stands out with a simple melody, combined with sporadically emerging disco stabs. “Spooky Bird“ combines organic percussion and an engaging, almost random, whistling sound. The last track, “Mamacita“, is built around a disco loop and layers a distinctive vocal sequence, percussion and catchy rhodes-lick on top.

<![CDATA[Basement feat. Daniel Wilde]]>

beatport | juno.co.uk | decks.de | moon harbour shop

Adam Port’s background as a techno and house producer eschews many house music clichés, with his first musical influences actually coming from the hardcore scene of the east coast metropolises of the USA. Along with his straight-edge lifestyle, hip hop was also a crucial part of his life and which led to him learning to spin records. Fortunately for us he found his way to electronic music and especially to house music, otherwise the scene would be without a very talented musician.

On his Moon Harbour debut, his ability in creative sampling comes to the fore. The central theme of “Basement” is the drum loop, which in spite of its simplicity keeps the track vibrant and organic. Daniel Wilde’s vocals add a haunting atmosphere and characterise many of Port’s tracks. Together you can just feel the dark but enthusiastic vibes of techno basement parties.

In his remix Moon Harbour label-boss Matthias Tanzmann places less importance on the drum loop and concentrates more on small and detailed effects without abandoning his trademark dry and reduced funk.

The track “Tell you” delivers a crazy disco jam, highly polished with piano and drum loops and a vocal sample as sweet as candy - catchy without being cheesy.

Martinez, our man from Copenhagen, saw great success last year with his album "The Paradigm Shift" and with his tight, rolling-house sound becoming a distinctive trademark.

It’s taken almost a year to collect all the remixes of "The Paradigm Shift", but it has most definitely been worth the wait. Moon Harbour boss Matthias Tanzmann has rounded up an illustrious group of remixers, including the winner of a very successful remix contest done in collaboration with Juno Download. The winner, Tripmastaz, beat out 150 other entries with his remix of the title track "Paradigm Shift", and which will be available as an exclusive Juno Download along with the release of the second remix package (MHR055).

Alex Celler, the Greek-born and Londoner-by-choice producer, has already conquered the turntables of famous DJs worldwide with hits such as "La Palma" (Area Remote). He’s hit the mark once again with his remix of "Kamino", which has been an essential part of Matthias Tanzmann’s and Martinez’s sets for some months now. We can confidently say it will be an official club hit!

The two Romanians Livio & Roby have made their mark with tracks and remixes for labels such as Desolat, Cecillé and Fumakilla, and give the track "Damaged Color" their own particular note. One of their productions will also appear on the forthcoming "Five Years Of Cargo Edition" compilation.
Marco Resmann and Norman Weber, better known as Luna City Express, show off their versatility with a typical Luna City Express-House remix of "Memorial" and a top-notch downbeat remix of "Lavender Mist".

To finish off the package, the Nuremberger Michael Melchner, mainly known for his regularly releases on Cargo Edition, has converted "Thought Patterns" into one of his unique and reduced house remixes.

Since the late 1980s Ibiza has developed into a meeting place for the discerning hedonist and people who prefer to party on their holidays instead of quarreling with other tourists over sunloungers. From 1999 the Circoloco parties at DC10 have been the most consistently legendary events of every season. Every Monday fancily dressed up people dance the day away to sets from the world’s best DJs, all under the glorious Balearic sun. It’s no wonder the party series is one the most-visited on the white island.

Circoloco residents, DJs Davide Squillace and Matthias Tanzmann, have been integral to the party since 2007, both being big names in the scene for a long time. Tanzmann has been going strong with his label Moon Harbour for more than ten years now, and Davide Squillace, as well as releasing on well-known labels such as Ovum, Sci+Tec and Desolat, also stirs up the music world with his labels Minisketch, Titbit Music and the recently founded Hideout.

Davide Squillace and Matthias Tanzmann have known each other and played together for years now, their legendary back2back sets at Circoloco parties always causing a furor, most recently in Miami, London and of course at DC10. So it’s no surprise at all that the two were called on to compile and mix "Circoloco @ DC10 Ibiza 2011 – The Next Level"; the perfect accompaniment for the coming summer and the new Circoloco season. Sorry, we are Circoloco!

Along with Matthias Tanzmann, Squillace is a resident at the famous Circoloco @ DC10 parties at Ibiza, and together they have compiled and mixed the "Circoloco @ DC10 Ibiza 2011 – The Next Level" compilation, soon to be released on Moon Harbour.

Arado & Marco Faraone, who caused a stir with their hit "Strange Neighbors" on Moon Harbour last year, contribute a remix of „Williamsburg“. The remix takes the deepness of the original and backs up the warm chords with the typical rolling Arado & Marco Faraone house groove.

Christian Burkhardt has drawn a lot of attention with his productions on Oslo Records, raum...musik and Area Remote. The Heidelberg-born live act, DJ and Producer gives us two versions of his remix of "Solaris"; the second version will be available as an exclusive track on Juno Download.
Berliner Markus Schatz, noted for his top house releases on Cargo Edition, the sister label of Moon Harbour, has remixed the title track of the album "Paradigm Shift".

Great tunes and energy!! Yamanote Line is a bomb!!

Julietta (Harry Klein):
Great package! Puddle Trouble is dope!

2000 And One (100% Pure):
Excellent Stuff!

Reboot (Cadenza):
All tracks are really great.

Every now and then, chance pushes two artists into the studio together. When that happens not only do interesting combinations of artists arise, but also the opportunity for exceptional music to be created. The epic pairings of Dan Drastic and Matthias Tanzmann, Chris Lattner and Luna City Express, and Martinez and Matthias Tanzmann team up for the second edition of the very special Moon Harbour Joints series.

Dan Drastic and Matthias Tanzmann open the record with ‘Puddle Trouble’, a dry, reduced deephouse track which elegantly builds a bridge from funky oldschool grooves to modern house. Following this is Chris Lattner and Luna City Express with ‘Soul On Soul’, once more demonstrating what they do best: warm and organic deephouse.

The seed to Martinez and Tanzmann’s ‘Yamanote Line’ was sown while both were on a DJ-Tour through Japan. After recording sounds on Tokyo’s Yamanote train line, they later pieced them together in Martinez’s studio in Copenhagen into a tight and grooving techhouse track.

After the stunning success of Arado & Marco Faraone's "Strange Neighbors" (MHR051), we just had to release another of Matthias Tanzmann's summer hits on Moon Harbour. "Sun Splash" by Outart, the project of two Italian producers Fabio Lo Monaco and Andre Sirica, originally came out as a digital bonus on IANUS, the label of Circoloco residents System Of Survival. With an impulsive percussion groove and a striking brass sample, "Sun Splash" quickly became one of the most played tracks in Matthias Tanzmann’s sets and one of the greatest hits at DC10/Ibiza this season. Licensing the track for a vinyl release on Moon Harbour was impossible to resist!

The EP is completed by three as yet unreleased tracks. „Steinburg“, „Carrot“, and the digital exclusive track „En Vedi“ are deeper and more low-key, showing off the two Italian’s multifaceted style but without forgetting the dance floor. A fantastic debut for Fabio Lo Monaco and Andre Sirica. Welcome to Moon Harbour!

<![CDATA[ten years of moon harbour (2x12")]]>

decks.de | beatport.com | amazon.de

It has now been a decade since, on the eve of the new millennium, Matthias Tanzmann and André Quaas decided to start their own label Moon Harbour Recordings. Originally intended as an outlet to release the music of Matthias Tanzmann and his Gamat 3000 project, as well as tracks from his colleague Marlow, Moon Harbour quickly made its name in the electronic music scene and thus the label opened it’s doors to other artists like Vincenzo, Krüger & Manowski, Daniel Stefanik, Håkan Lidbo and Goldfisch & Der Dulz. In 2005 the Berlin-based duo Luna City Express started working with the label and joined the Moon Harbour Family.

2006 became a landmark year as two tracks by Matthias Tanzmann took the label to a new level - his own track “Bulldozer” and his remix of Marlow & Delhia's "Movin". These records have been two of Moon Harbour’s biggest hits and were the reason for the great leap in the awareness of the label internationally. In the same year Matthias Tanzmann founded the sister label Cargo Edition in order to broaden the stylistic spectrum of Moon Harbour. Since then Cargo Edition has developed into an independent platform with its own style, predominantly driven by the label's established and illustrious stock of artists, including Michael Melchner, Vera Heindel, Ekkohaus, Sven Tasnadi, Markus Schatz and Juno6.

In 2008 two new artists joined the Moon Harbour family and have become permanent members of the label's roster: Martinez from Copenhagen and Dan Drastic from Leipzig. Last but not least, Berliner Chris Lattner started to work for Moon Harbour both as a musician and as a host of the monthly Moon Harbour Radio Show, which he produces with Dan Drastic. In addition to new artists, releases from guest artists like Gregor Tresher’s “Break New Soil”, Santos' “Hold Home” or Arado & Marco Faraones „Strange Neighbors“ have reinforced the label's repuation. Not content to just make the records, over the last few years Moon Harbour Showcases have become renowned for building great parties with excellent music, provided by DJs who are part of a musical family. We are all looking forward to the next ten years and beyond!

Dusseldorf-based Arado and his Italian production partner, Marco Faraone, landed some major club hits during the past two years. They released on renowned labels like Desolat, All Inn and Area Remote and have also produced successful remixes for various artists.

Now their new EP is being released on Moon Harbour. The title track “Strange Neighbors” is already one of the most sought-after tracks of the year. These tracks have already been appearing in the sets of Matthias Tanzmann and Ricardo Villalobos for quite some time now and have therefore created considerable hype in various online forums and Internet communities. A video of a Matthias Tanzmann set is currently circulating on YouTube, showing one of the famous sit-downs at a Circoloco Party in the Ibiza club DC10. The soundtrack to this sit-down is “Strange Neighbors”.

The other two tracks on the EP are just as powerful as the title track and would each make a good A-side. A fourth track, called “No People Here”, is also available as a digital exclusive.

<![CDATA[ten years of moon harbour remixes]]>

beatport
| juno.co.uk | juno download | decks.de

The 10th anniversary of Moon Harbour is around the corner; naturally it will be celebrated with a compilation. “Ten Years of Moon Harbour“ will come out in autumn 2010 containing unreleased tracks by many artists that have been part of Moon Harbour throughout the past 10 years. This package of remixes is an appetizer and represents another milestone in the label’s history: catalogue number 50.

Matthias Tanzmann, Dan Drastic, Luna City Express and Martinez have reworked some classics and some of the best kept secrets of the label’s discography to produce four great remixes.

Matthias Tanzmann takes care of “Photone”, a track from his former project Gamat 3000. “Photone” appeared on the very first Moon Harbour release (MHR001). In his re-interpretation he turns the track from a deep house gem into a percussion-driven dancefloor-killer that he is so popular for.

The track “Seyyes” by New Zealander Simon Flower which was released in 2007 (MHR031) was reworked by Dan Drastic. By using many layers of percussion elements he experiments with the synth lines of the original and again gives evidence of his qualities as a remix artist.

Martinez from Copenhagen reshaped “Fresh“ by Luna City Express (MHR019). This track was the start of Norman Weber’s and Marco Resmann’s joint career in 2005. The remix picks up the sequences known from the original and bolsters it with the distinctively rough Martinez-house-vibe.

Luna City Express do something similar with their remix of Marlow’s “So Mellow, So Sweet“. The track was first released on the compilation “Moon Harbour Inhouse Vol. 2“ (MHR005-3) in May 2007. By elegantly face-lifting the track they make it even more perfect for the dancefloor.

<![CDATA[the paradigm shift (2x12")]]>
Throughout his career Martin Swanstein, aka Martinez, has experienced quite a few musical paradigm shifts. And he is certainly not the only one in the techno scene who has done so. Many of his fellow musicians also started, over time, focussing more on certain forms of techno and house music. In the case of Martinez it was a shift from deep house to minimal techno and finally to his current dance-floor house sound. Yet you never get the feeling that Martinez is just jumping on the bandwagon. When his first record, “Momomowha …”, was released on Moon Harbour in 2008 the house revival had just started. Martinez instantly managed to establish his own little niche.

After 3 EPs and a co-production with label boss Matthias Tanzmann, Martinez has established himself on the label’s roster of musicians and represents Moon Harbour at label parties all over the world. When seeing Martinez deejaying, his many years of experience become obvious. He simply knows how to set a club on fire.

“The Paradigm Shift” is already Martin’s third album. It is unique in having mastered the balancing act between dance-floor rhythm and home-listening quality. His organic sound combines all elements like dense beats and jazzy chords - so well, the listener is convinced that all of these are cast from the same mould. Every now and then you get the feeling you are listening to a really old house record that was simply produced with 2010 technology. Funky and, always at just the right moment, explosive.

<![CDATA[hello from planet earth remixes vol.2]]>

Hailing from Berlin Norman Weber and Marco Resmann released an album in autumn 2009 that can be easily called a success. This is why there were no problems at all to find an illustrious circle of remixers.

Jena-based Robag Wruhme already contributed one remix to Matthias Tanzmann’s „Bulldozer“ in 2006. The old partnership was now revived and Robag Wruhme was asked for a re-interpretation of another Moon Harbour track. His version of “Mr. Jack” captivates you with its mix of funk and darkness and has an overwhelming effect on the dance floor.

Reboot reworked the track called “Parish Fair”. He stripped the original that contains a strong percussion element even further down to the basics and focused more on an elaborate development of the break.

Martinez‘ remix of “Time & Space“ proves once more that the Copenhagen artist is really capable of making a track flow. The longer the track is playing the more obvious it becomes that his organic beats form perfect unity with the original theme; as if they were made for it from the start.

Also the second part of the remixes includes an exclusive digital bonus track. This time by Moon Harbour artist Dan Drastic that via his remix accomplishes in transferring the track called “MS Gera“ from space to earth: he partitions the main theme and completely leaves out the saxophone of the original. This way he achieves a dry and driving reprint of the original.

<![CDATA[hello from planet earth remixes vol.1]]>

Hailing from Berlin Norman Weber and Marco Resmann released an album in autumn 2009 that can be easily called a success. This is why there were no problems at all to find an illustrious circle of remixers.

Mathias Kaden starts off with his Smaragd Remix of “Diamonds & Pearls“, one of the more successful tracks of the record. Mathias sticks to his style. He knows how to experiment with the e-piano snippets from the original track. All this is supported by an ambitiously grooving beat that simultaneously accomplishes a certain airy lightness. This is something that only he can do!

Most people will know Ray Okpara from Mannheim as member of the Oslo-Crew. His remix strips “Celebration of Life” down to its essence: the groove. Ray keeps this driving and consistence until the last beat.

Catz’n’Dogz from Stettin have taken care of the humorous “Mr. Jack“. Contrary to the original track the vocals rather act as an instrument and are based on a beat that puts you under a spell from the very first second and doesn’t release you until the track is over.

As a digital bonus the New Zealander Simon Flower provided one his typically organic remixes; this time “Heaven’s Gate“. It is the perfect finish to the first part of the remixes.

<![CDATA[cheesecake]]>

After his collaboration with Matthias Tanzmann in summer 2009, Martinez releases another stunning solo EP on Moon Harbour. Within a few beats it’s clear who we have here – so distinctive has Martinez’ sound become.

»Cheesecake« has an elegant house flow, its pressure evolving throughout and held by the continually increasing chord which, when reduced to its essential elements, creates a unique tension in the track. This elegant groover will turn heads as its deepness grows to catch the listener at just the right time.

On the flipside »Gourmet« is full and atmospheric – a floating chord, an excited vocal and from time to time a string make this the track to start the night or the morning in a euphoric way.

In addition to the vinyl will be the exclusive digital track »Passerby«, a techhouse track that rides straight down the line, catching up on the drive of Martinez’ previous EPs “Momomowha” und “Le Cirkus”.

Martinez’ first album on Moon Harbour will be following up in spring 2010. Keep your eyes and ears open.

The musical evolution of Matthias Tanzmann as producer is in full swing – a quick look over his releases and remixes of the last year reveals an ease and sophistication, as he further progresses the reduction of house music.

And with great pleasure we get to provide his pinnacle of the year so far, »Chano«, the two versions of the track demonstrating just where house can take you on the threshold of a new decade.

The A side concentrates on a percussive rhythm and a lyrical vocal, its carefully placed sounds building the track into a dynamic and hypnotic whole.

The B side of »Chano« is arranged more classically - a deep chord, a clear beat, accentuated hi-hats and claps. The percussiveness here is more profound, shaping the track in a completely different way.

After Moon Harbour’s first artist album, the much commended “Restless” by Matthias Tanzmann in spring 2008, comes the long-awaited 'Hello from Planet Earth' by Luna City Express!

Marco Resmann and Norman Weber have been an integral part of the Moon Harbour inner circle from the very beginning, and have made themselves indispensable during the last four years as a DJ and Producer duo - consummate purveyors and subtle innovators of house. In the last few years the duo has forged quite a distinctive sound and their first album shows off the various facets of their love for this music, by keeping the balance between classic house with its US American roots and contemporary European developments.

“Hello from Planet Earth” is an eclectic work which displays the essence of their sound - the key being the shape and ease of funk, a high musicality and a cheeky sense of humor. Tracks which brim with this classic Luna City Express style house sound are “Celebration Of Life”, “Dream In Berlin”, “MS Gera”, “Mr. Jack” and “Parish Fair”, all filled with depth, organic funk and the right drive for the best hours in the club. In these tracks the Berlin-Chicago axis is clearly apparent, all done with the right amount of reverence while still looking to the future.

The album also delves further into an unseen side of the duo: introverted, dense tracks, inspired by Dub and Downbeat, like “Plata”, “Heaven’s Gate”, “Time & Space” or “Orange Softcake”. The short interludes, „Floripa“ and „Magic Bubbles“, 2 experimental ambient tracks, connect the dots and complete the package.

With “Hello from Planet Earth”, Luna City Express have really come into their own, and the result is a more impressive sound than ever - reflecting both their respect and passion for house music.

<![CDATA[moon harbour joints vol.1]]>

In the last few months two faces have caused a massive stir at Moon Harbour HQ, the frenchman Seuil and Martinez from Copenhagen. And to take that momentum a step further, after their recent sets alongside Matthias Tanzmann at the monthly Moon Harbour Flights at the Distillery in Leipzig, Tanzmann invited them back to his nearby studio for what ended up being a very fruitful couple of recording sessions.

And the fruits of these collaborations are here for you all as two very special tracks on the split EP „Moon Harbour Joints Vol. 1“, each track combining the artists’ unique personal styles while at the same time giving us more than the sum of the parts.

The A-side is Martinez and Matthias Tanzmann rolling out a compactly arranged track, named „Ohh I don't know“, which is characterised by percussive and impulsive beats, a rythmic chord and engaging vocal samples, all adding to make a unique funk – direct, authentic and deep.

Tanzmann and Seuil’s „My 808 gently weeps“ also builds on and emphasises several layered vocal samples. The result this time is a deeper and more laid back affair, which will undoubtedly become the perfect soundtrack to many an after-party that has stretched long into the shining new day.

<![CDATA[hold home]]>

Sometimes there are tracks which cause quite a stir long before their release date, and „Hold Home“ by the Italian producer Santos is one such track. For almost a year now ‚Hold Home’ has been causing mayhem in the sets of Djs like Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos, Loco Dice and Timo Maas, and now the track is being finally released officially by Moon Harbour.

Santos is one of the majors in the music scene, working as a DJ, producer and remixer. With „Camels“ he released an international chart-hit at the end of the nineties, and remixes and productions for famous stars like Madonna and Fat Boy Slim show that his artistic spectrum goes far beyond electronic clubmusic. Since 2008 he has been assisting Timo Maas as a producer, in addition to running the Mutant Clan project together.

„Hold Home“ is a classic house track – elegant, hypnotic and timeless, and with it he perfectly heralds the beginning of the summer season. The track is based on a short sample-loop of beats, chords and a distinctive vocal sample, and the fact that it needs nothing more than this is testament to Santos' keen sense for the dancefloor.

Luna City Express add their very own brand of funk to their remix on the B side. The two Berliners add percussion, their own vocal sample and a heavy portion of deepness, giving the track a new flow - less loop-orientated, but more soulful and more geared to the dancefloor.

<![CDATA[musm]]>

Alexis Benard a.k.a Seuil can't be stopped at the moment, releasing six EPs in the last year alone and amongst them being his stunning debut "Double Room" on Moon Harbour. This time around Seuil dishes up another three top-notch house tracks for us.

It all starts with "Musm", a driving track with a sharply accented rhythm, underlined by a catchy vocal sample. Around the middle of the track the arising fanfare/trumpet horn shows off Seuil's feel for the dancefloor. When the peak arrives it is a carefully crafted and subtle one, holding the listener till the end.

"Unexpected Night" is a builder, starting relaxed, but during the breakdown a half dissonant, half driving sound emerges giving the track an excellent and unforgettable new dynamic.

"Ohohah" is a touch more experimental. Bourn on an elegant bassline, the style shows a friskier side to Seuil, while still capturing his catchy, deep and funky style.

<![CDATA[rough neck]]>

2009 will be the year for Luna City Express. Since quite a time Berlin-based Norman Weber and Marco Resmann bring fresh breezes into the international house scene again and again – with their EPs and DJ-Gigs. Thoroughly honest house tracks, always with a winking easiness, are their trademark. This year their first album is coming and »Rough Neck« gives the first taste. The track catches with its continuous tension, always nearly bursting - for the whole duration of the track. The percussive rhythms, a short chord together with the funk bassline and some vocal samples interspersed – all this is inevitably pulling the listener.

Brothers’ Vibe, the hero of house, now finally getting the legitimate success for his music, intensifies »Rough Neck« into a pushing though deep house track with a classic US influence. At the same time he’s picking up the tension forced already by Luna City Express.

Also Moon Harbour boss Matthias Tanzmann interpretes »Rough Neck« in a new way while emphasizing the percussive character of the track even stronger. Garnished with extra sounds the piece gets a completely new drive without losing the original out of sight.

The Inhouse compilations are special moments for Moon Harbour. Being more than just simply packed with new and exclusive tracks from Moon Harbour artists and friends, they are also landmarks which connect a contemporary sound with a look to the future by giving a mouth-watering taster of upcoming releases.

Two eventful years have passed since the last Inhouse-compilation: almost a dozen new EPs have been released and played relentlessly in clubs worldwide - releases by Moon Harbour residents Matthias Tanzmann, Marlow, Luna City Express and Dan Drastic, but also by Simon Flower, Miguel Toro, Gregor Tresher, Seuil and last but not least Martinez, who is set to influence the labels' profile more in the future. Moon Harbour has now become fully international, with it’s artists receiving global acclaim and booking for gigs far and wide.

In particular it is the label-head Matthias Tanzmann who has flown the Moon Harbour banner around the globe. Apart from spending nearly every weekend abroad spinning in his inimitable style, he also plays regularly in Ibiza, performed for the Goethe-Institut in China and Australia and also somehow found time to release his eagerly-awaited solo debut "Restless" in spring 2008.

"Inhouse Vol.3" ranges from classical house through to the current sound of the clubscene, in which the borders between techno, minimal and house are becoming more and more blurred. The compilation seamlessly combines tracks of friends of Moon Harbour like Boris Werner and Mathias Kaden, who have previously remixed for Moon Harbour before, artists like Martinez and Vera who are currently the labels' focus, newcomers Dan Drastic & Chris Lattner who are set to cause more sensation in the future, and last but not least: Matthias Tanzmann and Luna City Express - the central members of the Moon Harbour family.

"Inhouse Vol.3" is not only a gift for Moon Harbour fans, but as well for the label itself.

<![CDATA[le cirkus]]>

Martin Swanstein aka Martinez is remaining true to Moon Harbour. After his first fantastic EP “Momomowha”, the high-flying producer, dj and labelhead comes along with two brilliant new tracks for the label. And once again Martinez succeeds in capturing intense moments and expanding on them, but without losing impact.

In “Le Circus” Martinez arranges different vocal samples into a rhythmic collage which build into the backbone of funk in the track. It’s precise and growing breakdowns will undoubtedly provide euphoria on the dancefloor.

“Mundial” has a percussive and intricate start but quickly evolves into an easygoing and elegant house track, which creates its incredible deepness by focusing only on the essential. "Mundial" is the kind of track which would signal early in the evening that the people in the club had most definitely come to the right place.

2009 the new Moon Harbour Compilation „Moon Harbour Inhouse Vol.3“ will be released, in which Martinez will provide an exclusive track as well the DJ-Mix.

<![CDATA[double room ep]]>

Moon Harbour stays international with their 40th release. This time with the focus on the vibrant French club scene. Alexis Bernard aka Seuil has already released a bunch of groundbreaking EPs on labels like Minibar, Einmaleins or Freak N Chic since 2006. This year he founded his own label called Eklo with such hi-class acts as Lauhaus and Miss Fitz.

For his first EP on Moon Harbour Recordings he presents 3 top notch house tracks with profound melodies and cleverly layered rhythms. “Double Room” consists of subtle sounds and a very likable vocal sample - driving with a high dose of funk! “She Percs Me” on the flipside is a bit more straight. Percussive rhythms and playful licks perfectly display Seuil’s musically advanced ideas. Last but not least and a bit more on the relaxed side we have “No Time For Love”. A shy piano works its way through the track and makes it a perfect tune for some real late night magic. One thing is for sure: France doesn’t necessarily mean French House.

<![CDATA[momomowha...]]>

After Gregor Tresher in spring 2008, Martin Swanstein alias Martinez is the next long time companion of the club scene to join Moon Harbour this year. The Copenhagen based DJ and producer has built up an impressive discography within the last seven years and affected the catalogue of labels like Guidance and Audiomatique decisively. With Out Of Orbit Recordings and Re:connected Martinez could also establish his own platforms. Known for excessive tech house tracks Martinez reflects the typical Scandinavian club sound that captivates by both its deepness and its clarity. The enhancement of his music, which can already be witnessed on his “Retrospective EP” on 3rd Floor, is even more evident his Moon Harbour debut.

„Momomowha” is an impulsive techno track, which however avails itself of the aesthetics of various house elements. The fact it runs more than eleven minutes is not conspicuous at all. The beat pushes forward undeviatingly, retaining its presence even during the longer breaks. The vocal sample of “Momomowha”, which is looping through the whole track, is backing up the straight character of the rhythm, adding a wonderful funky touch that gives somewhat of a timeless note to the track.

“Day By Day” is more obviously rooted in house music. The beat is twisted, but still pushing forward. It is thus a good contrast to the warm sounding chords and shows a slightly deeper side of Martinez.

<![CDATA[slice of life]]> Moon Harbour cannot be imagined without Daniel Faulwasser aka Dan Drastic behind the scenes. However, he is becoming more and more interesting as a DJ and producer, too. In 2003 there was a first sign of life of him on the Berlin situated label Highgrade Records. In the last year he could score with his contribution to Moon Harbour Inhouse Vol. 2 “Somebody’s Touching Me”.

„Slice of Life“ starts flirting with dub effects and with a gracefully built rhythm. Little by little an African choir moves over, which affects the track on the second half after the break in an ingratiating way, without dominating it at any time. No sign of African romance, Dan Drastic keeps the balance and presents a very self-contained sound.

With Johnny D., maybe the newcomer in 2008, a perfect man for remixing „Slice Of Life“ was found. As well as on his own EPs the Eritrea rooted but Mannheim based producer understands how to create a strong track with only a few sounds and a hypnotic rhythm. The vocals emerge subtly, the ingratiating monotonous and percussive beat operates in the foreground, once more measuring the limits of contemporary house music.]]>

<![CDATA[restless remixes part2]]> Part two of the double release of remixes of Matthias Tanzmann's album "Restless" is as high quality as its forerunner with remixes from Samim, Reboot and Petre Inspirescu.

Reboot, who has had massive debuts on Cadenza and Below, kicks off the A-side where he remixes "Love-Shaped Feeling". The Frankfurt-based producer concentrates on the intense harmonies of the original to create a mix perfect for sunrise after a long clubnight.

Samim, the darling of the electronic music scene, takes things a little tougher with his mix of "Crazy Circus". The Swiss producer marries a strong, old school house beat with an insistent bassline and twists the original into his own, individual but congenial style and arrangement.

Finally, Romanian newcomer Petre Inspirescu of Arpiar and Cadenza closes the remix package. His remix of "Hotel Sapporo" starts as a slightly convoluted minimal track but gradually flowers into a wonderous contemporary house cut across 10 minutes via graceful modulation and the hypnotic magic he is known for.]]>

<![CDATA[restless remixes part1]]> Although Matthias Tanzmann's well received album "Restless" is still within the focus of attention, the first EP with remixes is already due for release. The remix artists are well chosen as there are both newcomers and big names of the electronic music scene to complement the character of "Restless".

Guido Schneider's version of "Crazy Circus" (A1) has a lot in common with the original. His interpretation displays his typical atmospheric sound design, yet never losing its drive towards the dancefloor. Despite its complexity, Guido Schneider delivers a well adjusted house track.

Rozzo a.k.a. Peter Dildo once more proves his remixing talents. For him being part of the Swiss deep house duo Mountain People, the smooth and dubby character of "Swim" might have been a lot up his alley. So it is no wonder he builds his remix on similar elements. Amazing chords and a fantastic groove determine this beautiful and relaxing house remix (B1).

The Dutchman Boris Werner from the 100% Pure / Remote Area crew from Amsterdam is definitely a new talent to monitor. For this remix EP he is turning "Keep On" into a functional tech-house track (B2). Together with Lauhaus, Boris Werner already relased on Remote Area. And he will soon be back to Moon Harbour as one exclusive track of him will appear on our Inhouse Vol. 3 compilation in autumn.

"Restless Remixes Part 2" (mhr037) will follow up soon - containing remixes by Reboot, Samim & Petre "Pedro" Inspirescu.]]>

<![CDATA[break new soil]]> The New Moon Harbour release will be a surprise for a lot of electronic music fans. Gregor Tresher doesn´t take the musical limits between Techno and House too serious. So he doesn´t care about being one of Europe’s best Techno producer and cooperate in the same moment with a house label. Tresher is very opened with Techno music since a few years. He has releases on Great Stuff and Rebel One, and became more interesting for the whole scene. Right now he is one of the best booked Artist in Europe. Treshers debut on Moon harbour shows his deep and minimal side as a musician. But beside that, he still sticks with “Break new soil” on his musical straightness to the dance floor. In nine minutes you hear a deep and always continuing energy, which fits to a straight rhythm and a reduced chord – perfect to introduce the prime time.

On the B – side you will find Daniel Stefanik with his musical skills. The “Break New Soil” Remix is light, casual and discreet with its vocals and melodies.

Altogether you get a strong release of Gregor Tresher, after his well criticized debut album »Å Thousand Nights« in autumn 2007.]]>

<![CDATA[seven]]> Luna City are back. Three years since the fulminate start of the Berlin situated DJ and producer duo, now, after a short break, the new EP “Seven” follows on Moon Harbour. In the meantime Norman Webber and Marco Resmann have in no way been dormant. Besides countless international DJ-gigs, they published two EPs on the Spanish labels Aerobic Studio and Justified Cause in 2007. Despite the great demand Luna City Express remain however true to their port of registry Moon Harbour. Following the hit songs »Fresh«, »White Russian« and the »Crazy Planet EP« the two new tracks confess a new aspect of the duo. »Seven« (A1) stays surprisingly reduced.
The typical deep until whimsical house sound from Luna City Express builds up only little by little. Various vocal samples, a funk bass here and an interspersed Scifi-element there, more the both do not need. »Suki Zuki« (A2) in turn is a live recording of a successful jam session after a gig in Japan. The beat goes unflinching; in the background two Japanese friends are talking - recorded at the restaurant Suki Zuki. At any time saxophone and pipe commence mixing up with a bright chord.
The Swiss producer Agnés, known for numerous releases and his own label Sthlmaudio Recordings, tightens »Seven« with two remixes even more for the dance floor. His club mix (B1) turns out to be an exhausting minimal house track, whilst the dub house mix (B2) gets closer to classical deep house.]]>

<![CDATA[restless cd]]> It’s been seven years now since Matthias Tanzmann teamed up with Daniel Scholz under the Gamat 3000 umbrella and released the ‘All Seasons’ album on Dessous Recordings. Back then this relaxed deephouse understatement was the flavor of the month. Now Matthias Tanzmann presents the grown up, world-travelled solo debut album ‘Restless’. Not just the album title, but also track names like Keep On, Flight Mode or Redirected reflect a packed international DJ booking schedule over the last few years. Since 2007 he has been resident at Circoloco at DC10 (Ibiza) and part of their world tour. Rounded off with residencies at Distillery (Leipzig), Monza (Frankfurt), Flokati (Munich) and Le Club (Valencia), it is fair to say that Matthias Tanzmann has never played as many international gigs as in the last year.

Musically he has developed significantly over these seven years. Fully committed to deephouse in the beginning, his tracks and sets have become more functional over time. His 12” release ‘Bulldozer’ (MHR022) is a prime example of a captivating bridge built between house and techno, without getting lost in anything considered half-baked Minimal.
‘Restless’ opens a new door for Matthias Tanzmann’s music, and new influences are abound in many of the album tracks. With a distinctive love of percussion as a key new element, he often uses percussive sounds as the hook line of his tracks. Check Rugby, Keep On or Crazy Circus for example. The focus of these tracks, more than ever before in Tanzmann’s productions, is mainly on rhythm and groove. The collected experience of a seasoned world-class DJ is perfectly reflected. All titles of ‘Restless’ have their own place in the time span of an imaginary club night, from a relaxed start-up mood, to prime time action, to hypnotic fade-outs in the early morning.

The previously released teaser 12” Rugby (MHR033) features a special edit of the track and a Mathias Kaden remix – both extremely well received. The original of Rugby, available on the album, is currently being thrashed by the likes of Josh Wink, Karotte, Raresh and 2000 And One. Last but not least, Pokerflat’s Steve Bug selected Keep On for his current Fabric mix CD.

The CD version of ‘Restless’ comes mixed, of course, by Matthias Tanzmann. Alongside the new album tracks you will find other Tanzmann production classics like Bulldozer, Nip Slip, Procon and Still Like It Like That.

<![CDATA[rugby]]>

Great events are often foreshadowed. Moon Harbour makes no difference there: Label head Matthias Tanzmann is about to release his first album “Restless” and with “Rugby” comes a promising teaser-EP. Side A belongs to Mathias Kaden, displaying the fresh creativity of a young DJ and producer. After releases on Freude am Tanzen and Vakant he no longer is just an insiders’ tip. His version of “Rugby” condenses the percussive elements of the original into a floor-storming monster, making great surprises with live-saxophone breaks. On the flipside, Matthias Tanzmann gets at it again, making “Rugby” a rakish percussive house track, lucid and lively at the same time. There could be no better preparation for the forthcoming release by Mr. Tanzmann. The original of “Rugby” already enjoys heavy rotation by the likes of Josh Wink, Steve Bug, Martin Landsky, Raresh and Karotte. And be prepared: How “Rugby” sounds in its original version will be only one of the many surprises the album offers. We promise!

The Original of Rugby will be released on Matthias Tanzmann's forthcoming Album "Restless" in January 2008

<![CDATA[miguel toro presenta oil of mars]]>

Currently, Matthias Tanzmann is feeling really well on his scouting mission: Besides playing countless gigs, Matthias always keeps eyes and ears open for new talent. Following New Zealander Simon Flower is Miguel Toro from Venezuela: An active musician since 1988, Miguel has been playing in Fusion bands as well as solo and in cooperation with other artists. Lately, he has been on the road with Swiss high-flyer Samim a lot, enriching his sets with live percussions.

Three pieces of Miguel’s new project Oil Of Mars have been selected for his first EP on Moon Harbour. “Cure” fuses minimal house with dark cinematic extracts. Remixing it, Samim and Miguel round off its edges but take it further with wild sound experiments, adding even more facets to the original. “Otro” starts with a distinctive lurching loop but develops step by step into a versatile piece of Minimal. And to finish it, “Clak” shows how House can be standing firm without becoming nostalgic in times of Minimal all around: Deep beats and a handful of striking sounds develop into a cooled-down funk that’s neither Oldschool nor current Zeitgeist. A fine debut, isn’t it?

<![CDATA[moon harbour inhouse vol. 2]]> Moon Harbour on its second inhouse flight. Started as classic deep house imprint back in 2000, Moon Harbour has released almost 30 records on vinyl plus four CDs during the past seven years and thus succeeded in establishing itself as a reliable address for highly effective club records.

A lot has changed since the first “Inhouse Flight”: Luna City Express entered the stage, moving on to release three records that hit dancefloors and DJ charts likewise. Daniel Stefanik established the sublabel Cargo Edition and presented his “Bad Ass Mixes” on mothership Moon Harbour. Just recently, readers of German magazine GROOVE honoured him as one of the newcomers of 2006. Together with label leader and close friend Matthias Tanzmann, he now represents Moon Harbour with worldwide DJ bookings. But 2006 has been a great year altogether: With previously unknown consistency, Moon Harbour records have found their way into the cases of world-renowned DJs, newly recruited Leif & Tom Ellis and Samim making their contributions as well.

“Moon Harbour Inhouse Vol. 2” keeps the story going and without much looking-back: All label artists have delivered brand new exclusive tracks (being released on vinyl as well), joined by swiss Michal Ho (who already had records on Tuning Spork and Freizeitglauben together with Samim) and home-grown Dan Drastic, fellow citizen of Leipzig.
Besides the vinyl release there is a mix-CD worth mentioning, containing not only the eight exclusive tracks but also some of the recent Moon Harbour catalogue – blended together by Berlin-based Luna City Express.

<![CDATA[five years of moon harbour]]> Moon Harbour is turning five. Starting out in the early summer of 2000 as an address for classic deep house in Leipzig / Germany, Moon Harbour has now – half a decade, more than 20 vinyl and four CD releases later – become a reliable address for minimal and electronic club records.

Certainly, the previous five years offer enough stories worth re-telling. Be it the first Moon Harbour releases by Gamat 3000 (“Radio Moon”, MHR 001) and Marlow (“Trust in Me”, MHR 002), the great tracks of our Swedish friends Håkan Lidbo and John Dahlbäck, the unforgotten guest-remixes by Freestyle Man, Losoul and Guido Schneider or the current success of the latest Moon Harbour-signing Luna City Express with their singles “White Russian” (MHR 021) and the still hot and vibrating “Fresh” (MHR 019), charting at rank six in the July / August issue of the relevant German Groove magazine!

Now, with the forthcoming label-compilation “FIVE – Five Years of Moon Harbour” waiting in the wings, it seems a great idea to be looking around contentedly, and to review the diversification of our sound. Yet the pulse beat goes on and stagnancy is …you know what. That is why label boss Matthias Tanzmann bestows to us, alongside the most successful tracks out of the latest releases, a selection of eight previously unreleased tracks.

Flashing up is the first track by Gamat 3000 in over four years, shining along with label debuts by Martin Landsky, Phil Stumpf (Duplex100) and Audio Werner. What's more, is that Luna City Express and Mr. Tanzmann himself do not hesitate to contribute exclusive material. The Moon Harbour Express is rolling – come aboard – we are looking forward to our next label flights with you.

<![CDATA[inhouse flights volume one]]> The first pure Moon Harbour compilation is completed. After four years and 15 releases it is now time to give a summary of the label work. Thirteen partially exclusive tracks were compiled and mixed by Marlow and are now going to be released as Moon Harbour Inhouse Flights Volume One.

Needless to say, there is some brand new material by Matthias Tanzmann and Marlow on the comp as well. Goldfish + Der Dulz tie up to their successful release “Supercolor” (MHR013) and deliver one of the exclusive tracks to the compilation. Frankman and Matthias Tanzmann present their first concerted track and Jesper Dahlbäck’s cousin John is given his debut on Moon Harbour with “Confident Session”. Along with the altogether six new and exclusive tracks also the classics of the Moon Harbour backcatalogue are featured on the CD. Håkan Lidbo’s “Overnight” or “Boogie Wolf” by Deep Drawn appear as well as classic tracks by Vincenzo, Marlow or Gamat 3000.

Quality is guaranteed since the label philosophy is: We don’t need to release 15 or 20 records per year. Maybe we are doing 3, 4 or 5, but these reflect our musical preferences by one hundred percent.
Along with the release Marlow and Matthias Tanzmann will play some tour gigs and present the compilation at a few of this year’s festivals and music exhibitions. And of course, there will be a release party with the regular Moon Harbour Label Flights at Distillery Club Leipzig.
Come aboard & Enjoy the flight!

<![CDATA[flights volume two]]> Please find enclosed the 2nd official mix-CD of the german dj and producer Matthias Tanzmann - the second part of the ´Moon Harbour Flights´ CD series. After a year of remixes for labels like Dessous, Moodmusic, Freude Am Tanzen, Komfort and Infracom, his latest 12 inch “Those Nights” on Moon Harbour and numerous DJ-gigs in Germany and Europe, the wish for a new mixed CD grew stronger. selection of the best club tracks of the last weeks and months in a harmonic mix. The result is a nice mixture of topical tracks recognizable from Matthias’ DJ-Sets. Tracks of friends and colleagues like Steve Bug, Håkan Lidbo, Tiefschwarz, Marlow, Sunday Brunch, International
Pony, DJ Buck, JT Donaldson or Losoul. Talking about facets of electronic music like deephouse & co., there are always different points of view to give an insight into the stylistic status quo. With this CD,
Matthias Tanzmann delivers his very personal interpretation of modern House Music in 2003. For about three years ´Moon Harbour Flights´ has also been the name of Matthias Tanzmann’s successful event-series, taking place monthly in Clubs Distillery (in Leipzig) and Sternradio (in Berlin), and the headline of his dj-tours through the front-side german house-clubs.

<![CDATA[flights volume one]]> Please find enclosed the very first official mix-cd of the german dj and producer Matthias Tanzmann, which is also the first part of the new CD-Series ´Moon Harbour Flights´.
During the last years it was tried to find a name and a special description of the new music that is easily able to draw a very harmonic circle through House, Clubjazz, Broken Beats, Techno and Minimal Electronic Sounds. In most cases it’s called Deephouse or something like this. Only a few people accomplished an authentic crosssection of this music in less than 90 minutes. A good example is the ´Inhouse´-Series of EFA-Distribution or the english ´Deephouse´-Series.

With this CD Matthias Tanzmann presents his very personal interpretation of Deephouse and has chosen an excellent mix of international productions. You will find records he frequently plays in his dj-sets and tracks of producers who sent special musical influences to him.
It’s not easy to limit this in only 80 minutes, of course, there were much more great tracks like these of The Persuader, Luomo, Attaboy, Marlow or Chris Duckenfield.
For about two years ´Moon Harbour Flights´ is also the name of Matthias Tanzmann’s successful event-series, monthly in Leipzig Clubs Distillery and Kosmophon, and the headline of his dj-tours through the front-side german house-clubs.
Well, now listen and enjoy the first of the Moon Harbour Flights on this CD!

Tracklisting:

<![CDATA[send in the clowns]]>

A new face at Moon Harbour - A Face from the back of beyond. Simon Flower comes from gorgeous New Zealand and has been affecting theantipodean club scene hugely since the early nineties. As Peak Shift this pleasant fellow released principally on his own label, Nurture Recordings but now, after a short break, Simon Flower is kicking off under his real name. The auspicious twelve-inch "Shinjuku Skyline" on Curl Curl was just thebeginning as here, he makes his debut on Moon Harbour before he delivers a12" to Pokerflat in a few months time. With "Send in the Clowns" Simon combines playful sounds and filtered vocal elements with a summery swinging bassline and a deliberate portion of funkwith his downright sensitivity. In contrast, "Seyyes" is a bit more compact and way deeper but is a potential underground hit with it´s unobtrusive peak for the later hours. On the A-Side Dutchman, 2000andOne (one of today's top producers and mastering engineers), edits "Send in the Clowns" into a more classical house style but always keeps an skilful eye on the distinctive character of the original. With this EP Simon Flower show's his links to the european club scene wonderfully.

<![CDATA[trust in me]]> Behind MARLOW you find the german producer and DJ Mario Weise, until today better known as DJ Elektro. As DJ Elektro he has been influencing the sound of the Leipzig underground club Distillery (www.distillery.de) for about five years. Further he is one of permanent music contributors of the german nightlife guide ´1000°´.

On Moon Harbour Recordings he releases his 1st product as a music producer. Deep, sweep sounds, jazzy elements and grooving beats rule his own sound, just like in his DJ sets. It was too easy and not really correct to enclose these sets in a certain musical genre "I try to bring my music closer to the people, independent from different styles. The highest priority I give to the music in general, ...."

MARLOW supports Marios´ ´housemusic living side´ - coupled with a soulful
singing voice in ´Trust In Me´ and with a little more pressure in his ´Hôtel Gérard´.
At the B-side you find a special remix for all club dancefloors (!!) by GAMAT 3000. The 1st release on Moon Harbour Recordings and some deephouse-hits on nice labels like Dessous, FM Rec., Lo-Fi Stereo or Freude Am Tanzen were made by GAMAT 3000 (Daniel Scholz & Matthias Tanzmann) before.

With MOON HARBOUR RECORDINGS the DJ and producer Matthias Tanzmann now
established his own record label for the special nightdreaming sounds on this planet....]]>

<![CDATA[rose garden]]> the third release on moon harbour rec. is an e.p. by the label owner matthias tanzmann. as gamat 3000, together with daniel scholz, he also had contributions to the first two releases. now he comes up with his solo debut.

"rose garden" on the a-side is a track that features warm saxophone sounds and exciting sweep lines. the first track on side b is "beausoleil", a soft atmospheric deep house song with an easy-going melody line in the end. "skyline", as the last track on the e.p., comes with more energy to conquer the deep house floors of this planet.

with the first releases on his label, matthias at the moment achieves a gentle stir in the german minimal house scene and already receives international resonance, for example from brussels, stockholm, glasgow and san francisco. the gamat 3000-track "radio moon" is not only on the new lost vegas sampler "german house suit 2", but it is also to be found on a lot of dj-playlists, for example the groove-top10 of steve bug (pokerflat, dessous), ian pooley (v2) and hoschi (sense music).

in november, moonharbour rec. starts a monthly party-series at the leipzig-city club
kosmophon. the reason is to give a club harbour to the label, where the modern minimal house lover can have a comfortable evening. opener will be the "rose garden"-release party on november 25th.

<![CDATA[corcovado ep]]> the fourth release on moon harbour rec. is an e.p. by our friend and workmate vincenzo from hamburg. he ran up the international jazz house scene and its critics by his great releases on dessous recordings, raw elements, stickman, stoopidness …

vincenzo got his musical influences from the early house productions from chicago and new york and from different hiphop- and jazz-partitions. the same rule his studio productions- and dj-style.

groove magazine (no. 68, 02/03-2001): “vincenzo is and stays our (deep-)house-hero - also in the year 2001! a new album, please!”

and moon harbour rec. takes new steps in urban jazz-regions with its no. 4, without loosing the electronic groove in vincenzo´s songs. vincenzo was in new york in studio with alexi delano (a.d.n.y.), known from the productions for the swedish labels svek and hybrid, and with maurice fulton (crystal waters / basement boys) for this record.

with signing of vincenzo ragone for moon harbour rec. the started leipzig-hamburg-connection on dessous recordings (with releases of gamat 3000 and frankman) takes a very fruity continue.

the in november established monthly party-series at the leipzig-city club kosmophon has found a second monthly gig in the berlin-mitte club sternradio. the reason is to give a club harbour to the label, where the modern minimal house lover can have a comfortable evening.

<![CDATA[boogie wolf ep]]> Hereby you will find a brand new debut on moon harbour. The vinyl-debut of DEEP DRAWN. DEEP DRAWN is the music project of the label owner matthias tanzmann together with his friends and workmates mario weise aka marlow and alexander voigt. still in leipzig, before moving to weimar, matthias and mario were in permanent musical relation, not only during the large number of dj-gigs they played together, but they were testing each others new tracks before public releasing. last september marlow´s 12”- debut came out on moon harbour – “trust in me” became a real club hit.

matthias more and more achieves public attention by his numerous releases – as solo and as gamat 3000 (together with daniel scholz) – on dessous, moon harbour, fm rec., f.a.t. and lofi stereo. the first album of gamat 3000 will be released on dessous recordings in fall 2001.

during their study of media design at bauhaus-uni in weimar matthias and mario got to know alexander voigt. similar interests were found very soon and a kind of musical and technical exchange was established. it was only a short way to find out the need for a new music project together.

the monthly label nights in leipzig and berlin got to constant national deephouse dates and keep their place in the continuing label tour. the reason is to give one or more fixed club harbours to the label, where the modern deephouse lover can have a comfortable evening. at the intergroove-party ´illusion´ on august, 18th, at casino garden moon harbour recordings will presents its sound, also this year at popkomm in cologne. enjoy our acoustic harbour … welcome!]]>

<![CDATA[overnight ep]]> “Thirty-six years old Stockholm DJ & producer Håkan Lidbo has released more than seventy records during the past ten years, from cheesy pop to the deepest experimental underground. Dropping his first pop single in 1988, he has continued his rise toward reign all the way through the new millennium. Picking up the pace in 2000, he has positioned himself as one of the brightest new stars in the underground dance circuit.” (Vybemusic/New York). He had already proved his ability to incorporate abstract programming and creative sounds in his cutting-edge tech-house, or even threw some click’n’cuts for Mille Plateaux. The new single on Moon Harbour Recordings is the new electronic relationship between Stockholm and Leipzig and Håkan is, besides Vincenzo Ragone from Hamburg, the 2nd guest-artist on Moon Harbour Recordings. Welcome! Håkan Lidbo has released records on such prestigious labels as Pokerflat, Fragile, Moody, Skam, Mille Plateaux, April, Force-tracks, X-tracks, Paper, Repap, Loaded, Plastic City and many others… He’s made remixes for artists like Fatboy Slim, Lisa Shaw, Ashley Beedle, Midfield General, Reset, Vladislav Delay ...]]> http://www.moonharbour.com/live/releases/mhr_006.php <![CDATA[cassis]]> A new artist on Moon Harbour again, just in springtime. Jan Krüger is the 24years old record dealer at the Düsseldorf Flipside-Store and a well-known DJ in Germany´s Area between the rivers Rhein and Ruhr. Jan is organizing and playing at regular house-nights of the clubs Coffy, Soja, Unique (all in Düsseldorf), at the U-Club (Wuppertal) and at Fink (Essen). Jan Krüger also tours frequently as DJ through Germany, Netherland and Switzerland. Marcus Manowski (aka Daze Maxim) began to create music with computers back in 1988 when he was 11 years old. In 1996, after some years of making experiences with electronic and non-electronic music, he released his first EP on JAKPOT (JP010), when he met Oliver Bondzio. After Oliver received some more interesting demo-tapes he made him first of all to his partner from the JAKPOT label, later from the advanced techno label SERIAL KILLERS HAIRCUT and the house subdivision GENTLEMAN`S HAIRCUT. Daze alone is responsible for starting four releases on SKH and four on GENTLEMAN`S HAIRCUT. The JAKPOT projects PARC 1 (JP010), PARC 2
(JP013) and MOTIVO (JP014) are created by Daze as well. The 12” Cassis is just the first co-production of the two producers and reflects their widespread musical repertoire: deephouse – with the A-Side-track Cassis, functional and full of pressure minimal electronic – with the track Turned Page (B1) and easy swinging Jazz – with Slow Rounded (B2). And after the last note of Slow Rounded there is nothing more to do as setting the needle in high speed down again in the beginning of the record and enjoying it for another time, for a few times…]]>

<![CDATA[exposed]]> One year has passed since his last release as Deep Drawn with 'Boogie Wolf', and two years since his debut 'Trust In Me'. Now we proudly present Marlow's new 12 inch 'Exposed' on Moon Harbour Recordings. The B-sided track 'Towards Evening' has already been licensed pre-release for the highly-commended 'Deep Chords' sampler and ´Exposed´ for EFA-Inhouse Vol.3.

'Exposed' on the a-side is a minimal deephouse rocker. With the pushing bassline and the catchy vocals it will surely find its way to the heart of the house-addict.

The b-side comes up a little more complex and tricky.
'Dirty Bob' lives by a great variety of interacting synthe-sizer elements around its characteristic bassline. With the sound of singing birds and playing children in the background, 'Towards Evening' impresses as a percussive feel-good track besides the four-to-the-floor dictation. Warm chords and melodies for the sunny afternoon. Enjoy!]]>

<![CDATA[sunday memories]]> Talking about a unique house sound of Leipzig, Frankman is the producer to be mentioned in first place. In 1998 it was him who released the first records on his own label FM-Musik. At this time his Leipzig djcolleagues Till, da Halz and Matthias Tanzmann have already been working on their very own interpretation of house music. After various releases on Dessous and Freude Am
Tanzen and his first longplayer on Draft he is now getting his first appearance on moon harbour. While his album Different Divides was more designed for the home listening pleasure, Sunday Memories is aiming straightly at the dancefloor. And as already claimed in the name of the record the best place for these tracks is the clubfloor in the early sunday morning hours. And that Frankman knows very well about this you can be proven by taking a look at his numerous dj-gigs,
which lead him weekly through clubs of the republic.]]>

<![CDATA[those nights]]> After the Year Of The Remixes (f.e. for Freestyleman, Soul Parlor / Korben Dallas, Phoneheads, Dapayk & Eva Padberg, Gamat 3000) Matthias Tanzmann now returns with a new solo 12”-Maxi on Moon Harbour. With “Those Nights” Matthias consequently continues his way of Minimal-House and even presents a new kind of Moon Harbour Sound. Along with the b-side coming up with a deep and familiar sound structure, the a-track “Those Nights” directly aims to the dancefloor. Dubby minimal house for club-use! Either with the Gamat 3000 Debut-Album „All Seasons“ on Dessous or with his first Mix-CD „Moon Harbour Flights Vol.One“ (Vol.Two follows this summer!) Matthias gained international feedback on his music during the last year.
And as a DJ he rocks every week with colleagues like Marlow or Martin Landsky through the clubs of Germany and Europe.]]>

<![CDATA[exposed remixes]]> After the overwhelming feedback on Marlows “Exposed” in autumn 2002 we are now presenting three new remixes of this track. Along with a new mix by Marlow himself, we were very happy to confirm Frankman and Sasse a.k.a. Freestyle Man, two first class dj’s and producers, to deliver their very own interpretations of “Exposed”. The results of their remix works are surely to be heard very frequently in clubs and bars as well as on the numerous open airs in the upcoming summertime. The Freestyle Man Thirsty Monk Mix on the a-side perfectly fits into this time of the year. Flirting with a little pop attitude it will be both a guarantee for listening pleasure and a tool for dancefloor use during the hot summer nights. With his five, four, three version Marlow comes up with a floating and organic mix, that takes the track to a warmer and deeper level.
Frankman (also known for his releases on Dessous and FM-Musik) had his first appearance on Moon Harbour with “Sunday Memories” in the end of 2002. For his “Exposed” remix he proceeded with the stylistic idea of this 12 inch and delivers another dubtech-house pearl in outstanding Frankman quality.]]>

<![CDATA[them people ]]> Moon Harbour´s new season started with the signing of a new artist. Instead of going to the lakesides, 24 year old Daniel Stefanik has prefered to spend the hot summer days with Matthias Tanzmann in his studio in the southern part of Leipzig. The result of this collaboration is this brilliant new Moon Harbour release, containing three minimal club-tracks, which are both
reflecting Daniels fondness of the “Sound of Detroit” and Matthias´ idea of modern Deep House. “Them People” is also Daniel Stefanik´s official debut as a producer.
With the main track “Them People”, Daniel and Matthias are presenting an energetic tool on the records A-side. Minimal in its elements used and with an old-school
attitude.
“High Heel Sneaking” (B1) is engaging with its charm and elegance. The soft and deep bass and the warm chords make it a pearl of pure listening pleasure, both on the dancefloor and at your home soundsystem.
“Mobile” (B2) is the third track on this record. It is working with a very agile bassline and lovely synth sounds.]]>

<![CDATA[ supercolor ]]> Moon Harbour welcomes another new act to the label family - Jörg Fisher and Maurice Dulz from Bremen / Germany team up to be "Goldfish + Der Dulz". Jörg Fisher is a passionate musician, both as songwriter, singer, with the classic guitar or even in jazzorientated fields. Maurice started his musical career as a dj at the clubs of Bremen in northern Germany. Together they have released several records on wellknown labels like Playhouse, Sub-Static or Ware. They regularly present their music in live sets, sometimes with the support of a live percussionist! With the current release "Supercolor" Goldfisch + Der Dulz now make their debut on Moon Harbour
Recordings. The EP contains three tracks, best labelled as pure, minimal tech-funk.

<![CDATA[inhouse flights vol.one - part 1]]>

The first pure Moon Harbour compilation is completed. After four years and 15 releases it is now time to give a summary of the label work. Thirteen partially exclusive tracks were compiled and mixed by Marlow and are now going to be released as Moon Harbour Inhouse Flights Volume One. Along with the CD the six new and exclusive tracks appear on two separately released 12 inch vinyls. Part 1kicks off with a track of the Hamburg based DJ Jan Krüger, who already debuted on Moon Harbour with “Cassis” (MHR007) in 2002. The Swedish producer John Dahlbäck (by the way the cousin of Jesper Dahlbäck) delivers his first track to the Moon Harbour Catalogue.
Although he still has a young career, this gifted man can already look back on releases on labels such as Brique Rouge, Toko, Dessous, Physical Soul, Deep 4 Life and Morris Audio.
Moreover we got a new track of Moon Harbour chairman Matthias Tanzmann, which is, compared to Matthias’ recent releases, focussing again on his deephouse roots. The last tune on this record is already a Moon Harbour classic. Gamat 3000’s “Gentleness”, originally released on MHR001, concludes the compilation’s first vinyl part on B2.

<![CDATA[inhouse flights vol.one part 2]]> The first pure Moon Harbour compilation is completed.

The second Part of of this edition is opened by Goldfish + Der Dulz from Bremen / Germany. With “Birthday Party” they tie up to their successful Moon Harbour debut “Supercolor” (MHR013). Two of Leipzig’s most active and versatile producers, Frankman and Matthias Tanzmann, teamed up for the very first time to make their contribution to this sampler. The result of their collaboration is to be found on B1 of this record. Marlow, who was responsible for the dj-mix on the compilation’s cd release, shows up with some new material as well. The instrumental version of “Dancando” not only shows another sample of his musical variety. It also provides an insight into the work on his debut album.
As well as we did on part.one, we re-release one of the sold-out Moon Harbour classics on B2 of this record – “Overnight” by Hakan Lidbo.

<![CDATA[anyway]]> Matthias Tanzmann is on the run again. After “Them People”, his collaboration with Daniel Stefanik back in the beginning of this year (mhr012), he is now hitting the electronic dancefloor for another time. A touch of acid, swinging beats, a catchy bassline and some slightly cold and laidback vocals – once again Matthias is leaving his Gamat 3000 attitude behind to come up with a new facet of his musical work.

And already now, before its official release, this record is running in heavy rotation in the clubs. It is supported by DJ’s like Tobi Neumann, Phonique, Marc Schneider, Markus Welby and Steve Bug. Steve even licensed the track to his new Mix-CD “Bugnology” (Poker Flat).

The b-side contains two excellent remixes of the Moon Harbour artists Daniel Stefanik and Marlow. Daniel attended to the track together with Matthias in their Tanzmann & Stefanik constellation. Their remix (B1) delivers a big load of tech funk by still keeping it deep and minimal at any time.

The second remix – Marlow’s Five, Four, Three Version (B2) – comes up much more complex and covered in Marlow’s typical organic sound texture. Even though it is bristling with warmth and deepness, his remix never loses track of functionality. Perfect!]]>
http://www.moonharbour.com/live/releases/mhr_016.php
<![CDATA[quiet]]> Marlow is back with another brilliant 12” on Moon Harbour Recordings. “Quiet” is the name of his new production and it comes out in three different mixes. You’d better not presume the track does resound its title, as “Quiet” (A1) is a minimal funk masterpiece and a massive dancefloor weapon! Its real drum beats are complemented by deep chords and a rolling bassline.
All this forms an ideal backing for the rough and sharp-edged, yet clearly-cut vocals by the amazing Delhia (known for numerous releases, e.g. with Robag Wruhme on Freude am Tanzen, Musik Krause and Sonar Kollektiv). With “You better listen!” she is perfectly hitting the point: Once you are drawn into Marlow’s groove, you will inevitably get caught even more everytime you listen to him.

Stripping down the track structure, the Losoul Remix (B1) is pushing the original’s vibe into a more minimal and dry electronic genre. The result is a twisted and thrilling late night smasher. If you were fond of Losoul’s recently released album “Getting Even”, you will love this remix!

The second face behind Marlow’s Co-Mix (B2) is the Plauen-based HipHop DJ and producer Sebastian Damerius a.k.a. Comix. Teamed up, these two guys deliver four winking minutes of cross-references and intimations, never losing the big grins in their faces. Enjoy this splendid clash of Philadelphia Soul, Moodyman and breakdance!

<![CDATA[like shrubberry?]]> Like Shrubbery? What is that? Is the follow-up to Tanzmann & Stefanik’s debut “Them People” (charted rank 14 in germany’s groove magazine) going to be a jungle track? No, not at all!

The reason for this title is actually way more banal and somehow even refers to the old masters of British humor. Matthias Tanzmann: “We eventually stumbled across the word ‘shrubbery’ in some silly English text about Feng Shui. It’s been quite funny to us in that context, especially by being remembered of Monty Python’s ‘Quest for the Holy Grail’”.

A few minutes of strange microphone freestyling later, the vocals of “Like Shrubbery?” were recorded and the perfect name for the hypnotic club track with the deep emerging bassline was given. Like Shrubbery?

The B-side is diving further into the depths of the Tanzmann & Stefanik sound. “Seaview Dinner” combines Tanzmann’s warm deep house sound with Stefanik’s capable flair for the appropriate Detroit touch. A fresh spring tune.

The 12” is completed by “Sense Appeal”, a floating dub-tech track for a slight goose bump in late night hours. True Moon Harbour style.

Furthermore, Tanzmann & Stefanik are attracting attention outside Moon Harbour. Their remix for DJ Fex is to be out soon on Dessous Recordings. And Matthias Tanzmann’s collaboration with Steve Bug (Bug & Tanzmann – Tanzbug EP) will see its release on Pokerflat these days as well.]]>

<![CDATA[fresh]]> Luna City Express are the two Berlin based DJ’s and producers Phage and Norman Webber. And since these two guys even got the lunar approach in their project name, there could not have been a much better addition to our label’s artist roster. With “Fresh”, their debut release, they deliver a deep house house pearl with mature club smasher qualities.

The A-side not only goes by the name of “Fresh”, it also takes a fresh breeze into the topical Deep House sound. The air is waving from classic fields, emerging with a swinging bassline and frisky percussion right from the beginning. The vocal “You want a fresh style, let me show you” is keeping the airy tune on track and channels its way to the chords. And these chords are stupendous! What starts like a floating summer melody, soon turns out to become a ravy club hit, without losing its ease at any time.

The “Tanzmann & Stefanik’s Them Refreshed People Mix” (B1) mixes up the chord sequence of the original track with their “Them People” vibe from 2003. Replacing the organic temper by synthetic and dubby elements, Matthias Tanzmann and Daniel Stefanik come up with a slammin’ minimal dub-tech tool.

Finally, Luna City Express once more show their capability with the beautiful and deep “Winter Radio” (B2). After a few tracks for the compilations of the German club Muna (Bad Klosterlausnitz) and DJ Phage’s “Volkspark EP” on Martin Landsky’s Intim Recordings in 2002, this record is only the tip of the iceberg of things to come. Be anxious to more awesome tracks out of the pipeline of the Luna City Express.
But for now: Enjoy the fresh style!]]>

<![CDATA[move me]]> This record was more than overdue! That’s not only because Daniel Stefanik delivered two releases with Matthias Tanzmann on Moon Harbour within the last couple of months – it is Stefanik constantly writing excellent tracks while imprinting his unique stamp on them.

This sound is defined by its profound understanding of the Motor City groove which makes Detroit vinyls vibrate while they rotate.

Rather than being a flowery club phrase, “Move Me” is a kind of commitment. While it seemed impossible to find clearly-drawn lines separating house from techno on previous Tanzmann & Stefanik-tracks, you’d better not even think about searching for anything comparable on this one. No chance.

A few seconds into Guido Schneider’s “dark side of the moon mix” (b1) you will find there’s no better name on earth for this tune. In a well-known brilliance, the Pokerflat artist casts a heavy cloud around Stefanik’s “Move Me”, pulling it deeper down into its inescapable, oppressive maelstrom.

Our catalogue no. 20 is completed by two more of Stefanik’s tracks that keep the level just as intense!“Liquid” (a2) is floating in space with endless chords and swinging snares.

“Deviant Behaviour” comes in with a bittersweet touch of psyche.

For those feeling an even larger appetite for Stefanik’s stuff now: his brand new debut album is available for free download on the netlabel instabil.org.]]>

<![CDATA[white russian]]> Wow, what a kick off! The Luna City Express really lived up to its name. “Fresh” (MHR019), the Moon Harbour label debut of the two fellows from Berlin, almost took off like a rocket. It instantly climbed up to rank 6 at the Top 50 charts of the German Groove magazine’s July/ August issue.

Having such an intense tailwind, to us it appeared more than obvious to release new Luna City Express tracks rather soon. And since DJ Phage and Norman Webber got a whole drawer full of FRESH tracks, this time we waived the guest remix and compiled an EP with three brand new tracks of the congenial duo itself.

“WHITE RUSSIAN” is the EP’s title track on the A-side. Its omnipresent 1/8 bass impulses leave no doubt that this track has nothing to do with dozy cocktail cosiness. And from this one certain point after two or three minutes, when the Detroit-like pulsating chords complement the groove with a tremendous implicitness and advance the track with its irresistible flow, everybody will confirm that, played at the right time, “WHITE RUSSIAN” can be explosive.

The B-side tracks “CITY SLICKERS” and “HIGHER” come up a little more dignified. They build on classic cartoon-like vocal samples and grant more space to the individual sounds without losing track of the specific basic groove of the EP. Without doubt these two tracks will delight both the deep house hardliners and the friends of a rougher and more twisted kind of house music.

See you on the dancefloor.]]>

<![CDATA[bulldozer]]> There are certain tracks which you have to feel in your stomach first. “Bulldozer” (A1) is one of them. While the last Moon Harbour singles offered some hit potential when looking closely enough, it’s obvious this time in Tanzmann’s first single in about a year. “Bulldozer” is the equivalent to Matthias Tanzmann’s highly active DJ-schedule: It puts the vibe of his DJ sets into seven minutes – the groove, the tense atmosphere, this slowly releasing of an acid line. That surely is no stuff for couch potatoes! Play it loud and you’ll have no further questions…

And finally, we succeeded in having Jena’s most favourite and long-time label friend Robag Wruhme do a remix for Moon Harbour. He’s not only the king of basslines but digs the message of the originals given to him as well – a fact that is no secret anymore. His awesome “Moosmutzel-Remix” (B1) grabs the small melodic pieces of the bulldozer and makes a melancholic rave hymn out of it, which is somewhat lugubrious despite its perfect breaks and astonishingly detailed work. Robag Wruhme rules even with a tear in his eye, that’s quite admirable.

This kind of winter mood is visible in “Still like it like that” (B2) even more. It’s a classic deep house track that obviously bows humbly in the direction of Detroit.

We still like it like that. And we hope you’ll do, too.

<![CDATA[bad ass mixes]]> It had been known for quite a while that Daniel is a party-proof DJ and producer when he started a long-planned project last summer: The live-realization of his tracks. His live show has been appreciated frenetically - with him making special edits of his tracks that had been released already being one of the reasons for this. These new versions were so full of energy that we decided to preserve these “Bad Ass Mixes” on vinyl.

Based on the live version of Tanzmann and Stefanik’s “Them People” (originally released on MHR 012), Daniel developed a remix (a1) that bestows a completely new drive upon their first hit. Highly condensed and pressing minimal, this post-Detroit track says goodbye to the controlled coolness of the original. Instead, a physical rhythmicity steps into its center, sweeping along all “Them People” patterns.

The live mix of Daniel Stefanik’s “Move Me” from his solo debut on MHR 020 comes up even more direct. If you have understood the “Move Me” chords as an ode to the directness of rave signals, you will love this version even more. It’s deep and euphoric, coming with a two minutes break at its climax – this track is a killer. And it’s a wonderful follow up to Matthias Tanzmann’s extremely successful “Bulldozer” record on MHR 022.

Note that there is a fresh Tanzmann & Stefanik record out on Dessous and a Daniel Stefanik/Pan Pot split EP still hot on Mobilee!

<![CDATA[movin]]> With “Movin’“, Marlow delivers the first vocal track on Moon Harbour for a long time. Responsible for the vocals is singer Franziska Grohmann a.k.a. Delhia, who has already been featured on Marlow’s last EP “Quiet” (MHR 017). Many will know her from her long lasting contribution to the works of Jena-based Wighnomy Brothers and Freude am Tanzen. The original mix of “Movin’” (a2) brings in a feeling of spring with the warm, song-like arrangement and its embracing groove.

“Marlow’s Movin’ Bassline Mix” (a1) is a reinvention of this, holding back the song structures of the original, cutting up Delia’s vocals and adding micro-parts of Acid to the melody.

Matthias Tanzmann’s Remix (b1) must feel like a psychotic brother to this: No more spring approaching, instead you are right back in Moon Harbours dryly kicking world of sweat, master plan and bodyrock. Driving alongside successful “Bad Ass Mixes” by Daniel Stefanik (MHR 023) and Matthias’ own “Bulldozer” (MHR 022 – ranked 5th in March/April charts of Germany’s “Groove” magazine), this one kicks as well with its tight percussive Tech-House. One clever mix, adding another killer bomb to today’s Moon Harbour sound.]]>

<![CDATA[crazy planet ep]]> With their latest EP, Luna City Express present us a sound that feels like they have spent some lonely years in Luna City sharpening their skills.

“Fresh” (MHR 019) and “White Russian” (MHR 021) already have been Samurai among House records, now these four tracks here are full Jedi knights. With an unbelievable sleaziness, LCE wander between styles: “Met Harvey in a Bar” (a1) is pure 21st Century Funk, while “Crazy Planet” (a2) shows you how kickin' Deep House sounds in 2006. “Mars Attack” (b1) is a Berlin-styled Techhouse-bomb and “Kick your ass” (b2) is a clever piece with dominant bass and sound modulations reminiscent of Keith Tucker: “I’m going to kick your ass”, says an unmistakable vocal line.

However, this irresistible groove of “Crazy Planet” doesn’t come totally unexpected: Over the last months, Phage has become one of Berlin’s most sought-after underground producers – being responsible for acclaimed Phage & Daniel Dreier records on Highgrade or Klang and playing an important part in the production of Pan Pot tracks (being released on Mobilée and Einmaleins Musik).]]>

<![CDATA[high mileage ep]]> meadow is still green and the number of pubs exceeds those of children’s playgrounds - a perfect place to start a rock band with your childhood friends, isn’t it? Especially if you grow up in a family that’s all crazy about music – just like Tom Ellis did. But the rock band didn’t work out – because Tom Ellis’ best friend Leif switched from bass and percussions to turntables, playing reggae and dub, trip-hop and funk, house and deep techno.

Today, DJ Leif is 24, running the Netlabels trimsound (www.trimsound.co.uk) and Mindtours (www.mindtours.co.uk – also releasing vinyls) – together with his friend Tom Ellis, of course. Their sound is minimal techno: Extremely funky and very deep. Bass and percussion are recorded live – for a sound as warm as possible. The result is a sound that is much too organic to be just another tool. A step forward for minimal techno? Who knows…

DJ Leif has already done a release for Jay Haze’ Textone label and just lately, Morris Audio has published an EP of DJ Leif & Tom Ellis. And now, we are happy to have them on board at Moon Harbour.]]>

<![CDATA[basic needs]]> If you still believe that unforgettable moments come from big gestures you should try to watch yourself more closely: On Saturday nights, clocks go different. Other things become important: An endlessly deep bass, an inescapable groove and these repetitive chords that make you lose your mind…

The last months have been quite turbulent for Matthias Tanzmann and Daniel Stefanik. Much time and energy have been put into their labels Moon Harbour and Cargo Edition, the new “baby”. Not to forget the countless nights they have spent in the clubs around the world – sometimes together, most of the time each for himself. It has been more than a year ago that they released a record together – now the join again to bundle their experiences.

“Basic Needs” (a1) is a pure club tool – it’s all about this one chord, this one groove, these ‘basic needs’ that can decide about a whole night. Phage and Normen Webber know this all too well – as they show with their “Luna City Express Remix” (b1). They slow down the pace a bit to make the chords come even deeper – tracks like this should be available as endless versions. Afterwards, Tanzmann & Stefanik close down with “Drifting” (b2): A dubby track with oldschool flavour and nice chord modulation that will make you… drift, of course.]]>

<![CDATA[eternally collapsing object ep]]> Moon Harbour has good news for you: A new artist joining our family – welcome Samim! After big success with his projects “Samim & Michal” and “Fuckpony” (together with Jay Haze) he debuts on Moon Harbour with his 3-track-EP “Eternally Collapsing Object”.

The bass line of “Eco” (b1) paces through deep frequencies as Samim throws in sharp-edged snares, wistful dub-synths and an elusive vocal-sample: This track is so catchy that it deserves the rare honour of a long b-side – its strong vibe just would have swallowed up any other tune accompanying it.

“SKKS” (a1) will get you from a different point of view: Forget about dub and minimalism, this one is a rhythmical display of fireworks. Samim goes in for the full, tictac go the claps and vocal-samples jeer and jiggle everywhere. This track got guts, man! “Radiative” on a2, though complex in its arrangement, slams massive as well – too bad, one can’t press an EP with three a-sides…]]>

<![CDATA[water]]> Champagne or water – which one is more suitable for a small label jubilee? Well, probably it’s best to celebrate such an event with a superb release. After the highly appreciated compilation “Moon Harbour Inhouse Vol. 2”, Moon Harbour throws in 12inch number 30 by its very own Mario “Marlow” Weise. Alongside label founder Matthias Tanzmann he has been part of the Moon Harbour family right from its start, having had two veritable hits during the last two years with “Movin” and “Quiet”, both together with singer Dehlia/Franziska Grohmann.

His new track “Water” (b2) breathes fresh air into the almost forgotten genre of Deep House. Organic Elements meet detailed sound work and subtle pop appeal. With singer Claudia Nehls at the mic, warm chords, handmade bass and a surprising guest appearance of the flute “Water” is the perfect companion for the sweet melancholy of early summer days.

Daniel Stefanik’s remix is much more floor-oriented and absolutely worth a full-length a-side. Hypnotically reduced with a fascinating dynamic, his work refers to key elements of the original, wrapping them up in a euphoric climax. Once more Moon Harbour’s youngest ambassador shows his excellent producing capabilities with his fusion of Minimal, House and feastful Detroit harmonies.

Jackmate (b1) puts more emphasis on the dark aspects in the original, slowly evolving to a very condensed climax. Reminiscent of Carl Craig remix works, the bassline is somewhat of a guide through the whole track, embracing everything as it seems.
If the celebration of a jubilee can look like this, water just does perfect.]]>

<![CDATA[nip slip ep]]>

One year has passed since „Bulldozer“, Matthias Tanzmann´s last solo release. It has been a busy year for him. Almost weekly, his dj gigs led him all across Europe and the world. His coop´s with Daniel Stefanik and Steve Bug, his remixes for the likes of Moby, Terry Lee Brown jr. and not at last Marlow & Delhia enjoy great popularity. Now, he presents the „Nip Slip EP“. Two A-Side-Tracks entirely sounding like Matthias Tanzmann. No compromises.

The theme song builds up on a chord, which gives the listener a ride on a rollercoaster. Floating, Winging, but stringent at any time, “Nip Slip” is rolling inexorable to its final.

With „Procon“ at the flipside, Matthias attends on his house roots. Remarkable lead sound slides are combined with swinging beats and a breeze of dub. The atmosphere magically undulates in the course of those 7 Minutes. “Procon” drags you. In a gentle way.]]>
